North Sydney Council is undertaking a review of current traffic conditions on Young Street, Neutral Bay, following the completion of the Young Street Plaza works and recent changes to the surrounding street network.

The review will consider how traffic currently operates along Young Street and nearby streets, including the safety of pedestrians, bicycle riders, and drivers, as well as the impacts on local residents and businesses.

Community feedback will help Council better understand local experiences and safety concerns and will inform a report to the Council.

The review will consider, but is not limited to:

  • Traffic volume and flow patterns during peak and off‑peak periods
  • Pedestrian activity and crossing safety
  • The impact of recent changes, including:

    • The Left Turn OnlyRestrictionfrom Grosvenor Lane to Young Street
    • Theraised platform intersectionat Young Street and Grosvenor Street
    • TheYoung Street Cyclewayfrom Military Road to Grasmere Road
  • Impacts on residential amenity, including noise, congestion and parking pressure
  • The adequacy of current signage, line‑marking and traffic‑calming measures

Following the close of community consultation, Council will:

  • Analyse technical traffic data and community feedback
  • Identify any safety risks or operational issues
  • Develop options to improve safety and traffic function
  • Report recommendations to the Council for consideration at the earliest practical meeting

Following the introduction of the Young Street Plaza works and related changes to the surrounding street network, Council received feedback from the community about traffic movement, safety and amenity within the area.

At its meeting on 8 December 2025, Council resolved to undertake a comprehensive review of traffic conditions on Young Street, Neutral Bay. This review responds to concerns raised by residents, local businesses and Precinct Committees and aims to ensure the street remains safe and functional for all users.

How to Submit Your Feedback

The purpose of this feedback process is to enable the community to provide input on current traffic conditions on Young Street, Neutral Bay, following the completion of the Young Street Plaza works and associated traffic changes.

Feedback received will help Council better understand local experiences, identify any safety or operational concerns, and will complement technical traffic assessments and an independent road safety audit. All feedback will be considered and reported back to Council.
