Playground and Park Renewals

Project Overview

Feedback closes on Sunday 23 August 2026

Playgrounds and fitness equipment in three local parks are getting a refresh and we want to hear from you.

Three of our much-loved parks are getting a refresh and we want you to tell us what they should become.

During the 2026-2027 financial year, North Sydney Council will be renewing and upgrading:

  • Ilbery Playground, Neutral Bay
  • Berry Island Playground, Wollstonecraft
  • Tunks Park Playground, Cammeray
  • Outdoor fitness equipment at Tunks Park, Cammeray

Before any concept designs are prepared, we want to hear from the people who know these spaces best. How do you use these parks today? What improvements matter most to you? Whether you're a parent, a carer, a fitness enthusiast or someone who simply loves spending time outdoors, your ideas will help shape what comes next.

Take the survey below. It only takes a few minutes.

About the Project

Playgrounds and parks play an important role in supporting children's development, community wellbeing, physical activity and social connections.

As part of Council's ongoing playground renewal program, the following playgrounds and parks have been identified for future upgrades:

  • Ilbery Playground, Neutral Bay
  • Berry Island Playground, Wollstonecraft
  • Tunks Park Playground, Cammeray
  • Outdoor fitness equipment at Tunks Park, Cammeray

Why this matters

Community feedback gathered during this consultation will help Council understand:

  • How the playgrounds and parks are currently being used
  • What people value about each site
  • What improvements are most important to the community
  • Accessibility barriers and opportunities
  • The needs of children of different ages and abilities
  • Local knowledge about safety, comfort, access and amenity

This is an early-stage consultation. No concept designs have been prepared at this stage.

Your feedback will help shape the design brief and guide the development of future concept designs before they are presented to the community.

We are seeking community ideas to help inform the design of the playgrounds and parks set for renewal.

We're engaging with the community before any concept designs are prepared and would like to understand what features, activities and experiences are most important to you.

Your feedback will help inform the development of future concept designs and ensure the playground meets the needs of current and future users.
