Draft Strategic Asset Management Plan

Feedback closes on 18March 2026

North Sydney Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Strategic Asset Management Plan.

The Draft Strategic Asset Management Plan sets out a structured, long‑term framework to guide how Council plans, prioritises and invests in essential assets such as:

  • buildings
  • stormwater systems
  • roads
  • footpaths
  • parks
  • community facilities

It has been written to address current and emerging challenges, including:

  • An estimated $157 million infrastructure backlog
  • Increasing asset condition risks
  • The need to shift from short‑term, reactive asset management to a proactive, risk‑informed approach consistent with best practice.

Due to Council's recent Special Rate Variation application, the draft outlines two possible pathways depending on Council’s financial position. One enables long‑term, planned asset renewal with additional revenue. The other requires difficult decisions about service levels and risk acceptance if current funding remains unchanged.

Community feedback is an important part of developing an effective and efficient plan. All feedback received will be included in a further report to Council for endorsement and adoption.

For further information, contact Council on (02) 9936 8100 or yoursay@northsydney.nsw.gov.au.

The survey is now closed. Thanks for participating.
